A typical worship service at GHWC includes the following:

  • Announcements
  • Special Music
  • Greeting
  • Praise and Worship
  • Prayer
  • Sermon

Announcements

At the beginning of each service, we take a few moments to update the congregation on upcoming events or other important information.

Special Music

Most services include 1-2 special music presentations by people from the congregation. This might be in the form of a piano solo, vocal solo or group presentation, and might include live music or a pre-recorded track.

Greeting

This is a brief time during the worship that members of the congregation are invited to greet those around them in order to encourage unity as a church body. It's a great time to meet new people!

Praise and Worship

There are typically two segments of praise and worship, a time when the whole congregation is invited to participate in the singing of hymns and contemporary choruses. These songs are led by a praise team or hymn leader and are sometimes accompanied by piano, and other times by a full band.

Prayer

Time is always set aside for prayer, led by the pastor. It is during this time that the needs of the church, the community, the nation and the world are lifted up to God.

Sermon

The sermon begins after the conclusion of the music and prayer portions of the worship service. It is during this 20-30 minute block of time that the pastor shares from God's Word, the Bible. Sermons are easy to understand, yet each one presents a challenge to live according to the principles of God's Word while offering practical ways to do so.
